“The Big House” — it’s an iconic name that serves as a palace of college football on fall Saturdays. Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, MI, is one of the most iconic and recognizable stadiums in the world; it is the largest stadium in North America and the 3rd largest venue in the world. From September to November, the home of Michigan football hosts the largest college football crowd in the world with around 110,000+ people packing into the Big House to support the Wolverines.

According to the newest 247 Sports college football stadium rankings, Michigan Stadium is one of the top 10 best atmospheres in the sport.

Michigan Stadium, the home of Michigan football, ranked in top 10 best venues in college football

Michigan Stadium has long been known as one of the best places to play in college football. The Wolverines — who have been on fire as of late — pack over 100,000 people into the venue on a weekly basis in the fall as passionate Michigan football fans rally around their favorite college football program.

Some of the most iconic games in college football history have occurred in Michigan Stadium; in fact, the venue also holds records in other sports, such as largest hockey crowd and largest soccer crowd. If you want to break an attendance record, you host a game or match at Michigan Stadium.

Some of the most notable Michigan football games have also taken place in the Wolverines’ iconic venue — massive wins over Ohio State (42-27, 2021), Penn State (41-17, 2022), Michigan State (29-7, 2022), are just a few recent examples of massive Michigan Wolverine wins that have taken place at the Big House. According to 247, Michigan Stadium ranks as the 10th best venue in the nation — it sits behind a few other Big Ten programs on the list such as Nebraska (9), Wisconsin (6), and Penn State (2).
