Michigan State, Michigan football coaches trade compliments

This weekend is one of the biggest games on the 2023 schedule for the Maize and Blue — it’s Michigan State week. Today, both Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh and MSU interim head coach Harlon Barnett had press conferences, where they traded compliments ahead of this Saturday’s game.

Michigan State is coming off of a crushing loss at Rutgers — the Spartans are 2-4 overall and 0-3 in Big Ten play. Ahead of this weekend’s game, Michigan State interim head coach Harlon Barnett had some positive things to say about Jim Harbaugh and his Michigan football program.

“They (Michigan football) are very disciplined in what they do — offense, defense, and special teams,” Harlon Barnett said. “They play hard. They have a good passing game, as well as running game. They’ve got a good balance. They just do a good job. They do a good job of coaching those guys up and putting them in position to make plays. A good football team.”

Jim Harbaugh also had some good things to say about Michigan State today.

“Yeah, (Michigan State is) super tough,” Harbaugh said. “You know, it was evidence this past week. I mean, I think it’s a tough team. I think Coach Barnett has got them playing really well and got them on the move. And it’s for the state championship game. We expect one heck of a football game and get prepared for it.”

This weekend, at 7:30 PM, Michigan football and Michigan State will take the field for the Paul Bunyan Trophy. With the two programs in opposite spots right now, the Wolverines are expected to easily cruise to an eighth-straight win; however, in East Lansing against the Spartans, never fully disregard MSU football.
