The last two seasons of Michigan football have been absolutely incredible for the Wolverines. Jim Harbaugh has led UM to a 25-3 record (19-1 Big Ten), two Big Ten titles, two CFP appearances, two wins over Ohio State, and two top-3 finishes. Still, after Michigan’s 13-1 Big Ten title-winning season a year ago, it’s clear that the Wolverines have even bigger goals on their plate. On Thursday, Michigan standout defensive back Mike Sainristill said that he came back to help the Wolverines win a national championship.

Sainristill came back to Michigan to win a national championship

It comes as no surprise that the Michigan Wolverines’ championship culture led to many star players sticking around in Ann Arbor. Guys like Blake Corum, Trevor Keegan, Mike Sainristill, and others decided that they wanted one more shot at helping Michigan win a national championship, and will give it one more go in the Maize and Blue this fall.

On Thursday, Mike Sainristill took the the podium to talk about why he came back, and the answer has Michigan fans fired up.

“I knew that this is where I wanted to be,” Sainristill said. “I wanted to come back — I’m not really worried about the NFL — I want to make sure that I have put into this program as much as I can. I definitely want to help my team succeed — for two years now I know what the taste of being in the playoffs feels like. I want to make sure that I can help this team win a national championship. Of course my ultimate decision was that my time here isn’t done, there’s more things that I need to accomplish with my teammates, more things that I want to put out there on film.”

Michigan football gunning for it all this fall

If the past two years have proven anything to the nation, it is that the Michigan Wolverines are capable of winning a national title. Despite the team’s success in 2021 and 2022, the Wolverines are looking more dangerous than ever heading into 2023, and according to many of Michigan’s star players, the Wolverines are coming for it all in 2023-24.
