After the 2022 college football season, Michigan football made a significant move by signing one of the best players available in the transfer portal: former Nebraska Cornhusker Ernest Hausmann. Since joining the Wolverines, Hausmann has been generating considerable national hype and has recently been recognized as the top transfer pickup in the Big Ten conference ahead of the 2023 season.

New Michigan football linebacker ranked the top impact transfer in the Big Ten

According to the latest rankings from Saturday Tradition, new Michigan football linebacker Ernest Hausmann is considered the Big Ten’s most impactful addition from the transfer portal for the upcoming season. Hausmann is entering his second season of college football after spending his first year with the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Following a disappointing 2022 season, Hausmann decided to enter the transfer portal and join the Wolverines in Ann Arbor. He had an outstanding performance against Michigan during the Cornhuskers’ 34-3 loss in the Big House in Week 11. As one of the five freshman linebackers to earn a starting role in Lincoln in the past three decades, Hausmann consistently proved to be a valuable asset on defense.

Ernest Hausmann poised for big things in the Maize and Blue

This fall, alongside Michigan linebacker Junior Colson and others, Ernest Hausmann appears ready to make a significant impact for the Maize and Blue in their pursuit of another Big Ten title and the program’s first national championship since 1997.

What makes this deal even more appealing for the Wolverines is that, regardless of Hausmann’s outstanding performance this fall, they will have him for at least one, and possibly two, more seasons. Hausmann will not be eligible for the NFL Draft until the 2025 cycle, which means he will spend a minimum of two seasons in Ann Arbor.

This new Michigan linebacker stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs 220 pounds. He possesses explosive talent and demonstrated his abilities by appearing in all 12 of Nebraska’s games last season, recording 54 tackles, one sack, and one fumble recovery. His standout performance of the season was a 10-tackle game, including his first-ever sack, against his current team, the Michigan Wolverines.
