Today, CBS Sports released a new projection for the Michigan football record ahead of the 2023 season. The Wolverines, who have achieved two consecutive Big Ten titles, College Football Playoff appearances, and more, face exceedingly high expectations this fall. Failing to contend for a national title will be regarded as falling short in the eyes of the fans and media.

Based on the latest projections, Michigan is expected to achieve an 11-1 overall record with an 8-1 record in the Big Ten. However, there are a few noteworthy challenges for the Maize and Blue.

According to the latest projections, Michigan football is predicted to be part of a three-way tie in the Big Ten East division. In the new projections, the Wolverines are projected to have an 11-1 record with a loss to Ohio State by the end of the season. However, this time their loss is anticipated to occur on the road against Penn State in mid-November.

Despite defeating Ohio State in Week 13, according to CBS’s prediction, the Wolverines still find themselves tied with two other teams in the Big Ten East. The specifics of how this tie occurs are fairly simple:

  1. Michigan beats Ohio State
  2. Penn State beats Michigan
  3. Ohio State beats Penn State

According to CBS Sports, with Michigan’s projected 11-1 record, the safe bet would be to take the over for the Michigan Wolverines in 2023. The over/under for Michigan football is currently set at 10.5 wins heading into the year.
