ANN ARBOR, Mich. — When the 2022 college football season came to an end, head coach Jim Harbaugh immediately started building this year’s team. The first player in the Wolverines’ impressive 2023 transfer portal class was former Arizona State offensive tackle LaDarius Henderson, who was one of the best blockers in the entire PAC-12 last year. Today, Michigan offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore spoke with the media at Schebechler Hall, and it’s clear that this new Michigan football transfer has the program abuzz about what he can do for the offensive line this year.

New Michigan football transfer LaDarius Henderson has the program buzzing

After winning back-to-back Big Ten titles with matching Joe Moore Awards (given to the nation’s best offensive line), one would think that Michigan offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore would be used to impressive linemen. That said, Moore — who also serves as the Wolverines’ offensive line coach — appears quite excited about one of the team’s newest additions: LaDarius Henderson.

“Yeah, I think it is a process that he’s (LaDarius Henderson) worked through, and he’s attacking,” Sherrone Moore said of this new Michigan football transfer addition. “Very excited about LaDarius and the progress he’s made just in the several practices we’ve had with them (during fall camp).

“You’re gonna have your ups and downs, and it’s gonna be something that you’re gonna have to just keep working at, but he definitely made a great transition to us, just being here in the summer, and now just excited to have him and excited where he’s at right now.”

A crucial starting role for this new Wolverine?

Right now, it seems that new Michigan football transfer addition LaDariud Henderson is primed to make a run at a starting role for the Wolverines throughout the remainder of fall camp. Few positions, if any, are more important than the left tackle role — it protects JJ McCarthy’s blind spot and is an essential part of Michigan’s stellar running game; for the time being, it appears that Henderson is the front runner to land this coveted spot.

With former Arizona State offensive tackle LaDarius Henderson, as well as numerous other members of the 2023 transfer portal class, all gunning for starting roles, expect increased competition and development from the Wolverines throughout the remainder of fall camp.
