So far, new head coach Sherrone Moore has kept the Wolverines 2024 signing class intact following the departure of ex-head coach Jim Harbaugh. With the release of the final On3 recruiting rankings for this cycle, one Michigan football commit stood out as one of the top risers nationally: four-star edge rusher Lugard Edokpayi, who jumped a whopping 142 spots in the final rankings and is now the Wolverines’ top recruit in the cycle.

2024 Michigan football commit makes jump in latest rankings, is now top commit in the class

Lugard Edokpayi committed to Michigan football on December 20th of last year and has since become a top name on the defensive side of the football in the 2024 recruiting class. While the Wolverines’ 2024 class, per usual, does not rank at the top of the nation (or the Big Ten, for that matter), it’s clearly full of studs that can keep Michigan in contention for titles in the coming years.

Few 2024 commits made as big of a last-minute jump as Lugard Edokpayi did; he jumped 142 spots in the right direction in the final rankings, going from No. 182 nationally to No. 40. This means that he just missed out on five-star status by a few spots; however, it’s clear that scouts are loving what they see from the soon-to-be Michigan football freshman edge rusher.

In the final On3 rankings, Lugard Edokpayi is rated as a four-star edge rusher out of Bishop McNamara High in Maryland; he ranks as the No. 10 player nationally, the No. 6 edge rusher in his class, and the No. 1 recruit in the state of Maryland. His new status leapfrogs him over players like Jadyn Davis, Jordan Marshall, and others, placing him at the top of Michigan’s incoming class as spring camp approaches. leon casino
