Well, it’s December, and that means that Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh is rumored to have strong NFL interest in a number of teams. That said, a new report broke today that was a little bit different — instead of Habraugh being the one with rumored interest, it’s the LA Chargers being interested in Harbaugh.

NFL insider says LA Chargers are interested in Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, the LA Chargers — who recently fired their head coach after a 63-21 loss against Las Vegas on Thursday Night Football — have an interest in pursuing Jim Harbaugh as their next head coach.

How much interest do the Chargers have? Is Jim Harbaugh interested as well? Those questions remain to be seen, as Schultz’s report leaves out those details, though it is widely believed that both sides have enough interest that a conversation could happen in the offseason.

Michigan football, NFL both interested in having Harbaugh as head coach in 2024

At the same time, it sounds like the Michigan football program is racing to get Jim Harbaugh a new contract extension that would make him the highest-paid coach in the Big Ten despite the current NCAA investigations into sign-stealing and more.

Of course, the Jim Harbaugh-NFL rumors are an annual occurrence for Michigan football fans; however, over the past two seasons, the Wolverines’ 59-year-old head coach has done some serious flirting with teams like the Vikings and the Broncos. At the end of the day, it appears that Jim Harbaugh is quite happy in Ann Arbor, though few doubt that he has an NFL itch nonetheless.

For the time being, all Jim Harbaugh and Michigan football care about is winning the national title, which starts with a CFP semi-final game against Alabama in the Rose Bowl on January 1. That said, after the season, it will be interesting to see what Harbaugh elects to do next when it comes to the LA Chargers and other NFL teams.
