Michigan football quarterback J.J. McCarthy is rising up NFL draft boards. He’s meeting with the Washington Commanders who have the No. 2 overall pick. The New York Giants and Vikings are also teams targeting McCarthy in the 2024 NFL draft.

The Vikings acquired a second first-round pick for the 2024 NFL draft. Some believe they are going to try and trade up for the stellar Michigan football quarterback, but that’s not how things played out in the recent mock draft update released by The Athletic.

Minnesota trades up in the mock draft, but after trading with New England, the Vikings select Drake Maye of North Carolina over McCarthy. Caleb Williams goes No. 1 to the Bears, while Jayden Daniels is the second quarterback off the board to the Commanders.

Where Michigan football QB lands in latest mock draft

McCarthy ended up as the fourth quarterback drafted but went No. 8 overall after the Broncos, who need a quarterback and traded up to land the Michigan football signal caller in the mock draft.

After getting rid of Russell Wilson, it’s clear that the Broncos need a new quarterback and McCarthy is a perfect fit. Sean Payton is a QB guru and it could be a great situation.

New York needs a quarterback too. Daniel Jones and Drew Lock will “compete” for the job but if McCarthy is there at No. 6, the Giants have to consider it. At any rate, McCarthy’s stock is rising and I’d be surprised if he lasts to No. 8 overall when draft night rolls around.
