Today marks the final day of July, which was eventful at the very end for the Wolverines with Big Ten Media Day and more. To close out this month, a pair of former University of Michigan athletes inked new NIL deals upon arriving at their new schools. Former Michigan basketball star Hunter Dickinson and former Michigan football quarterback Alan Bowman were among them.
Pair of former University of Michigan athletes ink new NIL deals
NIL deals have been rolling in for current University of Michigan athletes, and according to Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh, all is going well for the Maize and Blue on that front right now. That said, a few former Michigan athletes are doing well for themselves as well.
On July 25th, former Michigan football quarterback Alan Bowman — who did not see much in-game action during his time with the Wolverines and transfered to Oklahoma State — inked a new NIL deal with OKState Tokens, creating a new purchasable NFT of the former Wolverine.
In addition, former Michigan basketball star Hunter Dickinson (now with Kansas) signed a new NIL deal with NASCAR, allowing his image (along with a few other Kansas athletes) to be displayed in one of the car’s paint schemes.
As far as current Michigan NIL news, not much has been reported as of late; however, the Wolverines were one of the first teams to join the nation’s first-ever NIL collective association and continue to drive the sport forward in this regard. Needless to say, Michigan is ahead of the 8-ball here, as are a few of its former athletes.
