Michigan football fans scrolling Twitter/X on Monday night got an unexpected surprise as quarterback Jack Tuttle announced his retirement from college football. Tuttle cited a recent concussion as the deciding factor. Tuttle also shed some more light on the injury that caused him to miss some time earlier this season.

Jack Tuttle Says Goodbye

“The past year has been challenging, marked by a UCL repair in my throwing arm that I didn’t fully recover from, which has caused ongoing issues,” Tuttle said in his announcement. “And unfortunately, the recent experience of enduring my fifth concussion has brought forth the painful truth: that I need to start prioritizing my health.”

As far as his involvement with the program for the rest of the season, Tuttle said he will be around to assist in preparation.

“I want to thank coach Moore, the staff and my teammates,” Tuttle said. “I love all of you guys. I will continue to help Team 145 as we prepare for the rest of the season.”

Tuttle attended Indiana for four years, but the signal caller retired as a national champion and a Michigan man. The California native ended his announcement with optimism and said he plans to pursue coaching.
