Connor Stalions remains the subject of an ongoing NCAA investigation dating back to last season’s sign-stealing scandal.
The former Michigan football staffer publicly told his side of the story for the first time in Untold: Sign Stealer, which debuted on Tuesday.
While much of the college football world reacted to the Netflix documentary, Ryan Day was not among that group. In fact, he revealed he has no plans to give it a watch. Dave Holmes of ABC6/Fox28 shared comments from the Ohio State Buckeyes head coach, tweeting:
Day likely does not have much time for documentary viewing.
The Buckeyes head coach is reportedly on the hot seat entering the season. A fourth-straight loss to Michigan and another season without a national title could lead to changes in Columbus.
Connor Stalions scandal does not taint 2023 national title, claims Joel Klatt
The Wolverines overcame plenty of off-field controversy en route to their 2023 national championship. There was no bigger distraction than the Stalions’ scandal. While rival fanbases have alleged it taints the title, Joel Klatt disagrees.
Speaking on his self-titled podcast, the FOX college football analyst stated:
First and foremost, the national championship in 2023 is not even close to tainted. Not even close. It’s not even close to an asterisk. Number one, when this operation was still plausibly happening, they were blowing people out and there was little to no advantage needed nor gained.
Number two, once this operation was brought to the forefront and then it was eliminated, they got nothing but better. The first week that Stalions wasn’t on the field, they beat Michigan State 49-0. You think that they were stealing signs in the Penn State game? Ohio State? In the playoff against Alabama? So, no, this national championship is not tainted at all.
Klatt added that if the scandal broke after the season, there would be questions about the unknown. Instead, however, he believes the timing wound up working in Michigan’s favor.
