In just a few hours, No. 3 Michigan football (11-0, 8-0 Big Ten) and No. 2 Ohio State (11-0, 8-0) will face off at the Big House here in Ann Arbor, MI. At stake in today’s contest is a trip to the Big Ten title game, a likely appearance in the College Football Playoff, a perfect 12-0 record, and — perhaps most importantly — bragging rights and control over the national narratives. Here is our official score prediction for today’s game.

Score prediction for No. 3 Michigan football versus No. 2 Ohio State

Michigan football and Ohio State — the best rivalry in all of sports. This afternoon’s game will be as good as it gets, with both schools boasting perfect records and more, with a shot at winning the Big Ten title and national title still on the line for both programs.

Today’s game will feature two elite defensive teams with banged-up quarterbacks, likely indicating that we are all in store for a defensive battle this afternoon. The Wolverines’ No. 1 ranked defense will have the tall task of shutting down perhaps the best player in all of college football: Marvin Harrison Jr., a wide receiver for the Buckeyes.

Additionally, while Kyle McCord has not been anything impressive so far this fall, his weapons out wide, at running back, and at tight end are all looking elite, so Jesse Minter and the defense will have their work cut out for them.

On the other hand, Michigan football will undoubtedly be looking to rush the ball well on Ohio State’s No. 3-ranked defense — something that will likely decide today’s outcome. With JJ McCarthy seemingly still battling through some kind of ankle injury, getting Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards open in space will be crucial for the Maize and Blue.

Overall, like most major analysts, I see Michigan football and Ohio State playing a fiercely competitive and low-scoring matchup today. There won’t be much separation between the two, and fans will be on the edge of their seats throughout the game, but I see the Wolverines winning this one and contending for a third-strength conference title next weekend.

SCORE PREDICTION: Michigan 23, Ohio State 21
