Yesterday, just one play before the No. 3 Michigan Wolverines (12-0, 9-0 Big Ten) took a touchdown lead over the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes (11-1, 8-1 Big Ten) in the third quarter, Michigan football star offensive lineman Zak Zinter went down with a scary injury. He was then rushed immediately from the Big House to the hospital, where he underwent surgery for his broken tibia and fibula. Late last night, Zinter gave another new update.
Michigan football star Zak Zinter has a scary injury against Ohio State
Last night, after the dust had settled in Ann Arbor, MI, following the Wolverines’ impressive 30-24 victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes, Zak Zinter took to Twitter to provide a status update. Zinter, who went down in the second half of Michigan’s third straight victory in “The Game,” is doing well and even had a special guest.
Of course, earlier in the day, Zinter went down in the third quarter against Ohio State, and was down for quite some time. The U-M bench cleared, trainers rushed onto the field, and more in what turned out to be the scariest injury at the Big House this fall.

An update from Zak Zinter
Here is Zinter’s update:
“Surgery went great,” Zinter said in a tweet, “Love TEAM 144!! Thanks for having my back boys and finishing strong! I’ll be back better than ever. See you in Indy!”
Additionally, the Michigan football star offensive lineman included a photo of himself with his family and a special guest: head coach Jim Harbaugh (below).

Michigan football will be without the legendary offensive lineman
Zak Zinter is undoubtedly done for the year, including next weekend’s Big Ten title game, due to his injury. That said, while the Maize and Blue will find a way to press on, Zinter’s veteran presence will be missed — especially if/when the Wolverines get back into College Football Playoff and national title contention.
