Today, the No. 2 Wolverines (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) downed the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (3-1, 0-1 Big Ten) at the Big House in Ann Arbor. One Michigan football freshman — wide receiver Semaj Morgan — stood out, grabbing a huge touchdown catch and more. After the game, it was clear that 9th-year head coach Jim Harbaugh was quite impressed with his new addition.

This year’s Michigan football freshman signing class is nothing short of impressive, and today, wide receiver Semaj Morgan added even more hype to the Wolverines’ 2023 signing class. Morgan made two catches today, totaling 26 yards and a huge 18-yard touchdown grab.

After the game, Jim Harbaugh gave us more on Semaj Morgan, who is up to three catches and 61 yards on the season thus far.

“Oh my gosh. I just love it,” Jim Harbaugh said of Michigan football freshman Semaj Morgan following the Wolverines’ win over Rutgers. “Just so happy. As I told Semaj (Morgan) in the locker room and the family afterward, this is one of those things you’ll never forget. But there’ll be more to come with Semaj Morgan. He’s been really ascending since he got here, but especially the last three/four weeks — I’d call it five or six — just making plays, but just serious about being good at football and dead serious about winning and helping the football team and that paid off a lot of hard work. Semaj has put in a lot of hard work as all the guys have, but this is time to collect the dividends, and it was great to see him make that withdrawal today on a lot of effort and hard work put in by him.”

Next weekend, Semaj Morgan and the Wolverines hit the road when Michigan football takes on Nebraska for their first away game of the 2023 season.
