Jim Harbaugh has emphasized the “Michigan Method,” as he calls it, throughout fall camp and leading into the 2023 season. Simply put, Harbaugh is willing to start new faces at different positions to see who plays the best and earns the full-time starting role; this weekend, we could see that in full effect. Michigan football transfer tackle LaDarius Henderson is one of the top portal prospects in the 2023 class, and after some offensive line woes against ECU, fans could see Henderson get the starting nod at tackle against the UNLV Rebels this weekend.

New Michigan football transfer could earn first start vs. UNLV Rebels

The Michigan Method helped the Wolverines choose a quarterback in 2022, with JJ McCarthy ultimately winning the starting job a season ago. Now, it appears that the Wolverines could determine starters at a number of positions all over the field — included in these battles are both the right and left tackle spots.

LaDarius Henderson was a major transfer portal addition for the Wolverines over the offseason, and while he did not get a starting nod against ECU last weekend, there is a chance that Jim Harbaugh and the coaching staff will roll him out for his first-ever Michigan football start against the UNLV Rebels this weekend. The Wolverines currently have Karsen Barnhart at left tackle (the spot Henderson has been competing for) and Myles Hinton at right tackle.

Nothing is set in stone for LaDarius Henderson just yet

The bad news for Henderson here is that Barnhart looked solid over the weekend, while Hinton was displeased with his Week 1 performance — there is a chance that the battle for Henderson’s left tackle spot is already settled and that Barnhart will start again this weekend. That said, no one at either tackle spot impressed enough to be a concrete starter just yet, so we will have to wait and see.

Regardless, keep your eyes peeled this weekend, as new Michigan football transfer LaDarius Henderson could get his first start for the Wolverines.
