Michigan football freshman Brandyn Hillman has been one of the less-talked-about members of Jim Harbaugh’s 2023 singing class heading into the season. Still, that did not stop rising star defensive back Keon Sabb — who stepped up last weekend due to injuries — from praising the first-year Wolverine.

Michigan football freshman Brandyn Hillman is a “freak athlete”

Out of high school last year, Brandyn Hillman was rated as a four-star safety by both On3 and 247 Sports. Per the Industry Rankings, Hillman was the No. 207 player in the 2023 class, the No. 6 athlete in the nation, and the No. 5 player in the state of Virginia.

Now, Hillman will look to work his way up the Michigan football depth chart. According to Keon Sabb, another rising star in the Maize and Blue, Hillman is a “freak athlete,” based on what Sabb has seen from him on the field and on the basketball court.

What did Keon Sabb say about the freshman?

“Kid’s a freak athlete,” Keon Sabb said of Michigan football freshman Brandyn Hillman. “I’ve seen him on the court a couple of times. Once he gets comfortable, give him some time, he’s going to be a really good player. On the basketball court, I’ve seen him throw up some windmills, some different types of dunks that you see from some high-level players.”

The Michigan football freshman that Sabb says is a “freak” is listed as a defensive back for the Wolverines right now and is wearing the No. 6. Keep your eyes peeled, Michigan football fans, because the latest freshman buzz is about this stand safety who could get some reps throughout the non-conference slate and beyond.
