Michigan football was one of a few schools in the running for 2026 Central Catholic (Toledo, OH) cornerback Victor Singleton. The four-star recruit had a 91.7 percent chance to commit to Ohio State, followed by Michigan at 3.8 percent, per On3. Instead, Singleton pledged to Illinois on Saturday.
Central Catholic CB Victor Singleton commits to Illinois
Singleton is listed at six feet, 160 pounds, and also held offers from Kentucky, Texas A&M and more. He posted four interceptions, five pass breakups, one blocked punt and one blocked field goal in his junior season.
Singleton is the best player in Ohio, according to 247Sports. He visited Ann Arbor (unofficially) three times in 2024, including a trip late in November. Illinois got Singleton in its building last Sunday, and it must’ve made quite the impression.
There’s still a possibility of the Wolverines flipping Singleton, but they have an uphill climb ahead. The Fighting Illini are coming off a 10-win season and have momentum in spades. Singleton became the highest rated recruit Illinois has.
