Today, new College Football Playoff odds for the 2023-24 season were released, and Michigan football found itself among the top three teams in the nation. Despite appearing in two consecutive CFPs and winning back-to-back Big Ten titles, the Wolverines are currently trailing behind the Ohio State Buckeyes at the beginning of the year. This ranking may change as the offseason progresses, but it serves as an early indication of where the nation believes Jim Harbaugh and his program will ultimately land.

Michigan football College Football Playoff odds — Wolverines come in at No. 3

According to the latest College Football Playoff odds released today by DraftKings, Michigan football is ranked third with -105 odds to secure a spot among the elite teams in the four-team playoff this winter.

This recognition is well-deserved, considering the Wolverines’ recent success, including their consecutive Big Ten titles and their close proximity to reaching the program’s first national championship game since the early 2010s.

Leading the College Football Playoff odds ahead of Michigan football are the Georgia Bulldogs (-250) and the Ohio State Buckeyes (-125), both of whom are vying for another CFP national title this year. However, it is worth noting that Ryan Day, the head coach of Ohio State, has been bested by Jim Harbaugh and his Michigan Wolverines in the past two matchups.

As a result, some may argue that Day should not be given the benefit of the doubt until he proves himself capable of defeating the Maize and Blue during this decade. Still, the Wolverines are in good shape and have a great deal of national favor ahead of their 2023 campaign, which bodes well on the recruiting front and beyond.
