Yesterday, the final nine schools in consideration for highly regarded four-star safety Ricardo Jones were revealed. Notably, the Michigan Wolverines made the cut alongside Clemson, Florida State, South Carolina, LSU, Tennessee, Auburn, Texas, and Arkansas. It is worth mentioning that Michigan football is the sole remaining representative from the Big Ten conference, with other teams like Michigan State, Nebraska, and others failing to make the final list.

Michigan football the lone Big Ten team in the running for major recruiting target

Ricardo Jones, a highly regarded four-star safety hailing from SEC territory, stands out as one of the most coveted prospects nationwide. With an impressive physique, commendable rankings, and more, he has captured the attention of many college football programs. For Michigan football, securing the commitment of this top-ranked defensive talent would be a significant coup, especially considering they are the sole Big Ten team still in contention.

Jones, assessed as a four-star prospect by ON3, holds the No. 122 spot among recruits in the 2024 class. Furthermore, he ranks as the tenth best safety in his class and the 21st overall recruit in Georgia. While Michigan football isn’t currently favored according to the Recruiting Prediction Machine, they do find themselves among his top four choices.

At present, Auburn, Tennessee, and Florida State seem to be the frontrunners for the services of this four-star prospect.

The 2024 Michigan football recruiting class presently stands as the top-ranked group in the nation. With the official visit season on the horizon, head coach Jim Harbaugh and his team are aiming to secure commitments from additional high-caliber prospects. If the Wolverines can continue to impress key targets like Jones, there is a promising chance that Michigan will maintain their top ranking throughout the summer.
