Michigan football has started to make some headway in the 2025 recruiting class. It started with a commitment from four-star defensive lineman Jaylen Williams.

The Wolverines have also grabbed the lead in the recruitments of four-star defensive lineman Maxwell Roy, as well as four-star safety Kainoa Winston.

Winston is a top-10 safety and a top-100 recruit according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, as well as the On3 Industry rankings. Some Michigan recruiting experts projected the blue-chip safety to commit to the Wolverines and on Wednesday, Steve Wiltfong of On3.com also projected him to Michigan.

That gives Michigan an 89-percent chance to land his commitment according to the On3 prediction machine. If the Wolveriners land Roy and Winston, that would give them eight commitments. They are all blue-chip commitments (4 or 5-stars) according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

That means the blue-chip ratio for the 2025 class is 100 percent. Eight isn’t a huge sample size but dating back to the 2024 class, that would be 25 out of 34. That’s a blue-chip ratio of 73 percent. Anything above 50 is good, so Michigan football is recruiting better than it is getting credit for.

Nate Marshall is considering a flip to Auburn. Bobby Kanka, another 2025 commitment, is also visiting Michigan State. Still, the Wolverines have added some quality prospects. More are on the horizon and there are also chances with others.
