For decades now, Michigan Wolverines fans have had to put up with the antics of opposing Big Ten fans. The worst of the fanbases in the conference is that of the Ohio State Buckeyes — this is not only an opinion among Michigan football fans, but those of every fanbase in the entire Big Ten, especially those around the state of Ohio. In a new article by the Wall Street Journal, the publication roasted Ohio State football fans for their behavior.

Wall Street Journal roast Ohio State football fans in new article

Recently, the Wall Street Journal published a piece about the new football stadium being proposed at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. In that article, The Journal decided to go for the throat when talking about the Ohio State football fanbase; still, they were quite kind to may other teams in the Big Ten, including Michigan State, Wisconsin, and more.

Here is what the Wall Street Journal had to say about Ohio State football fans in their new piece about Northwestern’s stadium reconstruction.

Mr. Starkman, who is 56, said complaints about fans urinating on lawns and bushes after games are exaggerated and happen only when Northwestern hosts Ohio State.

Wisconsin fans party very hard but are “nice and respectful,” he said; Michigan State fans are “brilliant, lots of doctors and judges”; Michigan supporters are “ruffians” but generally well behaved; Iowa’s are the friendliest in the Big Ten, and Nebraska’s fans are the most likely to arrive in pickups.

“Ohio State fans are the only problem,” Mr. Starkman said. “They have a monster following, and they think the world is their bathroom.”

The entire Big Ten dislikes Ohio State, not just Michigan fans

As all Ann Arbor residents know by now, Ohio State football fans are often the worst to deal with. MIchigan State fans can be annoying to deal with, but that is largely because MSU fans are friends, family, neighbors, etc.; in fact, even schools like Penn State and Rutgers that are further away are not an issue to deal with more often than not. We are just glad that other Big Ten schools are experiencing this, and that a publication like the WSJ was willing to be open about it.
