Who will be the next Michigan football commitment?

Michigan football fans got some good news on Monday, but more should be coming on the recruiting trail.

Jaylen Williams has been a top target for Michigan football since Jim Harbaugh was still the head coach, so landing his commitment on Monday was a big deal.

The 6-foot-6, 265-pounder perfectly fits what the Wolverines want to do. He can be that big EDGE that Mike Morris was or he can become a true five-technique.

Either way, I’m excited about his future. He just oozes potential and Michigan football has killed it the past few years by getting the most out of dudes like that.

While the commitment of Williams was exciting and ended a commitment drought of about a month, it feels like the Wolverines aren’t done with commitments. Michigan football defensive coordinator Wink Martindale posted on X that Michigan fans should “stay buckled up” which leads you to believe more commitments could come.

So who could be next? And when?

Who will be the next Michigan football commitment and when?

Maxwell Roy, another defensive lineman, could be up next for the Wolverines in the 2025 class. He’s 6-foot-3, 270 pounds, and visited Rutgers at the end of May. He’s expected to visit Ohio State this weekend, before an official visit to Michgan football on June 21st.

From Philly, Roy has been trending with expert projections in favor of Michigan football from 247 Sports, On3, and Rivals. The On3 prediction machine gives Michigan a 96-percent chance to land his commitment.

Roy, who is ranked 220th overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, visited Michigan on June 4th (unofficially). That went well and he scheduled an official visit. The Wolverines have been trending ever since.

Ohio State is always a concern but we’ll see if that visit happens. Even if it does, if Roy makes it to Ann Arbor, I like Michigan’s chances of closing, and who knows, they could close even sooner.

Whether it’s Roy or someone else, it feels like another commitment is on the horizon.
