Four-star offensive tackle prospect Jack Lange is one of the top recruits at his position in the entire 2025 recruiting class. He’s also a top target for the Michigan football program.

Lange was viewed as a Notre Dame lean at one point. The 6-foot-8, 275-pound tackle from Eureka, Missouri who is ranked No. 144 overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, as well as the No. 15 offensive tackle, was trending with some crystal balls to the Irish.

However, things have shifted in his recruitment. Lange has scheduled four official visits and none of them are to Notre Dame. It doesn’t seem like the Irish are the favorite anymore and Michigan football is in the mix.

Michigan football has a golden opportunity

Nebraska, Missouri, and Wisconsin are in it too. Lange reminds me a lot of Andrew Sprague, another 6-foot-8 tackle from Missouri with a similar ranking. That was a huge recruiting win for Michigan football and this would be too.

While Lange didn’t drop any huge clues about a possible commitment, which will probably come this summer after his official visits, he did a recent interview and said positive things about Michigan football.

“It’s O-line U,” Lange told Chad Simmons of On3.com. “And they just won the natty.”

Lange said that his official visits will play a “critical” role in his decision-making process. He also said another important factor was, “The guys in the offensive line room. How they react to each other — if they can play well together — not be arguing and fighting all the time, but playing as one unit.”

Michigan football has done that under Sherrone Moore winning two Joe Moore awards. It’s hard to gauge a leader here. There was confidence on the Nebraska side of things but there aren’t any expert projections outside of Notre Dame. That means this is a golden opportunity to land another elite offensive tackle prospect from the Show Me State.
