Michigan Football Possibly Targeted In Latest CFB Scandal

Michigan football may actually be on the better side of things in the media this time around.

Connor Stalions and the Michigan football sign-stealing scandal — something that I am sure the Wolverines are over hearing about. Throughout the week, I’ve heard from both Michigan and Alabama players, who both say that they have stopped using their tablets to watch film in fear of there being a breach within their database; and on Friday, new reports show that the Wolverines are not on the wrong end of this scandal. In fact, Michigan may have been targeted.

Latest CFB scandal isn’t actually about Michigan football

As of late, a lot has been going around social media in regard to the Michigan football program and Connor Stalions’ alleged sign-stealing scandal. On Friday, however, things began to shift for the Wolverines, seeing as Catapult (a college football video database system) is being investigated by the NCAA and local authorities right now, per reports from Dan Wetzel.

After Wetzel’s initial report, ESPN writer Adam Rittenberg confirmed that Michigan football is not the accuser in this scandal; in fact, the Wolverines believe that they are one of the teams that was targeted.

“A Michigan spokesperson said that it is not being accused of the allegation and believed it was one of the schools targeted in the breach,” reads ESPN’s article. “Michigan shut down access to its Cloud and video through Catapult at the beginning of November to prevent any unauthorized access to its film.”

I confirmed this week with a few Michigan players that they have not been using their tablets to watch film since sometime in November. All of the players told me that they are still watching the same amount of film, just not on tablets.

With the sign-stealing allegations still swirling as Michigan football gears up for a CFP matchup on Monday, this new situation is absolutely one that the Wolverines should be monitoring closely.
