Yesterday, the Michigan football recruiting class (2024) picked up yet another major addition, this time in the form of a four-star wide receiver and a top teammate of Jadyn Davis. Channing Goodwin, the newest Wolverine commit in Jim Harbaugh’s top-ranked recruiting class, joined his quarterback, Jadyn Davis, late in the afternoon around 4:00 PM. Soon after Goodwin’s commitment, another major four-star wide receiver target for Michigan — Gatlin Bair — picked up a new enticing offer from Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Major Michigan football recruiting target picks up offer from Alabama
On Sunday afternoon, Michigan football recruiting secured its first wide receiver recruit for the 2024 class. However, if the Wolverines want to keep pace with other national title contenders, they’ll need to add many more elite wideouts for Jadyn Davis to throw to. One such player is Gatlin Bair, a four-star composite wide receiver who has included Michigan football in his final five remaining schools and may be trending towards choosing the Wolverines.
According to 247 Sports, Bair is ranked as the No. 40 player nationally, the No. 9 wide receiver in his class, and the No. 1 recruit in Idaho. While Bair is trending for a few teams right now, he recently released his top five, and will remain a major Michigan football recruiting target seeing as the Wolverines made the cut. Additionally, he has spoken highly of Jim Harbaugh and his staff during the recruitment process.
“I haven’t been able to get out to Ann Arbor yet,” Bair told On3. “But I have a good relationship with the staff, and they do an excellent job of developing elite players.”
Despite having his top-5 teams seemingly finalized, Bair picked up a new enticing offer on Sunday from Nick Saban and his Alabama Crimson Tide. Despite being a late player in Bair’s recruitment, Alabama is always a threat on the recruiting trail; for Michigan football recruiting, this news is less than ideal seeing as the Wolverines were starting to close in on their second four-star wideout in the class.
