This fall, Michigan football running back Blake Corum is gearing up for a massive season in the Maize and Blue. After a record-setting year with the Wolverines last fall, Corum announced his return to Ann Arbor in a shocking turn of off-season events, which has the nation clamoring about the Wolverines’ offensive backfield heading into the 2023 season. Right now, it seems that Corum is poised for another big year and could break a Jim Harbaugh-era program record.
Blake Corum looking to break Michigan football Harbaugh-era record
Jim Harbaugh is heading into his 9th season as the head coach of the Michigan football program, and so far, it has been a great stretch for the Maize and Blue. Harbaugh boasts a 74-25 overall record with a pair of Big Ten titles and two College Football Playoff appearances thus far. He has also coached a Heisman Trophy finalist and numerous All-Big Ten and All-American selections.
Last fall, running back Blake Corum became one of two Wolverines to be named a consensus unanimous first-team All-American. The other was center Olu Oluwatimi, who also won the Outland Trophy, the Joe Moore Award, and the Rimington Award, becoming the most decorated offensive lineman in program history last year.
During Harbaugh’s 9-year tenure, he has yet to have a standout player earn consensus All-American honors twice. With Blake Corum returning for another huge year in the Maize and Blue behind one of the best offensive lines that college football has ever seen, Corum appears poised to make another run at earning first-team consensus All-American honors, breaking a Jim Harbaugh-era program record.
An All-American-caliber season for the Wolverines’ top ball carrier?
With the senior running back rehabbing and getting back to 100% after suffering a severe knee injury, which sidelined him just before halftime against Illinois last fall, Blake Corum is looking to come back stronger and faster than ever. Over the past two seasons, Corum has made it clear that he is one of the most prolific ball carriers in Michigan football program history. Now, he is looking to rush his name into the record books in Ann Arbor as the Wolverines pursue another Big Ten title and more in 2023.
