Today, new ON3 recruiting rankings were released, resulting in significant jumps for several top Michigan football commits in the 2024 recruiting class. One notable addition to the Wolverines’ roster is Devon Baxter, who managed to climb into the top 200 nationally. This development gives Maize and Blue fans another reason to be excited about the upcoming national signing day at the beginning of next year.

Major Michigan football commit jumps into top 200 nationally

Devon Baxter, a recent commit to Michigan football and a significant addition to Jim Harbaugh’s 2024 recruiting class, is a highly sought-after four-star blue-chip recruit from Maryland. With the Wolverines missing out on a few top targets in the edge rusher position, Baxter’s commitment becomes even more valuable for the Maize and Blue as they approach the end of the recruiting cycle.

Standing at an impressive 6-foot-5 and weighing 235 pounds, Devon Baxter is an exceptional edge rusher hailing from Brandywine, MD. According to the latest rankings update, he is ranked as the 200th-best player in the 2024 recruiting class, the No. 20 edge rusher in the nation, and the third-ranked recruit in the state of Maryland. While many top programs were vying for Baxter’s commitment, Jim Harbaugh and his Wolverines emerged as the victors once again.

Currently, the 2024 Michigan football recruiting class ranks among the top 5, according to ON3 and 247 Sports. The class boasts 25 hard commitments and counting, and it appears to be one of Harbaugh’s strongest since assuming the role of head coach for the Wolverines in late 2014. This success on the recruiting trail is crucial for the program’s ability to remain competitive for future Big Ten and national titles. Thus far, things are looking promising in Ann Arbor.
