Charles Woodson, a legend in the Maize and Blue who won the Heisman Trophy and guided his Wolverines to a national title in 1997, finally added some positivity to the media coverage of Michigan football. As all fans know, there has been a lot said about Jim Harbaugh and his Wolverines regarding the sign-stealing scandal and investigations, though Harbaugh and Michigan are still kicking and in contention for a national title.

Woodson shares positivity about Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines on ESPN

Here is what Charles Woodson said on ESPN today — a positive message for all Michigan football fans to enjoy.

“It’s kind of hard not to (pay attention to the sign-stealing scandal news),” Woodson said on the Pat McAfee Show today. “You know, I (played) three years at the University of Michigan, I was a fan before I went there — I played there of course — and I’m a fan now. I look at the situation, and I just really have to say — first of all, it’s great to be a Michigan Wolverine. Two, I got to congratulate Jim Harbaugh into a position where it seems like people are envious of what he has going on in his program.

“You think about it man, and five or six years ago, nobody cared about what (Michigan football) was doing. Harbaugh was a couple of years in, and we (Michigan) were winning some games, but we couldn’t beat Ohio State, and now here we are. We’ve been able to beat those guys two times in a row. And so now everybody is looking at Michigan and saying, ‘What are they doing, they can’t be that good!’ And that’s the way I look at it man.

“Just congratulations to Michigan for building the program up, getting the top recruits in there. People are looking at (Michigan football) and saying “Wow, where did this come from? They must be cheaters if they are this good.'”

Michigan will get first true test of the season in a few days

This weekend, despite all that is going on with the Michigan football program, the No. 3 Wolverines will head to Happy Valley to face the No. 10 Penn State Nittany Lions. While Michigan is expected to win, this Saturday’s game will tell us a lot about Jim Harbaugh’s squad this year.

Additionally, if Michigan football does come away with the victory, there are no more excuses, seeing as ex-staffer Connor Stalions is no longer with the team.
