Last weekend, during the Wolverines’ 41-13 victory over Purdue at the Big House, Michigan football star Josh Wallace was seen heading to the locker room before halftime — he went on to miss the remainder of the game with what many speculate was some form of undisclosed injury. Now, heading into Michigan’s biggest game of the year so far — a road trip to Happy Valley to face No. 10 Penn State — the latest intel from Ann Arbor says that Wallace will, in fact, play.

Michigan football star expected to return against Penn State

This weekend will be a huge one for Michigan football, which just improved to 9-0 on the season with a win over Purdue. That said, the Wolverines are yet to be tested by a team like Penn State, who moved back into the top 10 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings.

One thing that the Nittany Lions are known for offensively is having explosive wide receivers, and with former five-star prospect Drew Allar under center in State College, Penn State is going to be a tough opponent in the passing game. Still, Michigan football is getting a major piece back: Josh Wallace, who seems to be doing just fine after leaving the Purdue game early.

“Yeah, yeah, he’s all right,” said Michigan football defensive backs coach Steve Clinkscale on Wednesday. “All my guys are all right. Everybody’s working hard; everybody’s getting healthy or healthy. It’s football. It’s November. Hell, I’m injured!”

Clicnkscale went on to praise Josh Wallace as well. Seeing as the Wolverines have had to rely on his veteran presence and added depth all season long, getting the ex-UMass standout back for the Penn State game is undeniably huge for Michigan’s defense.

“I think he got Player of the Game,” Clinkscale said of Wallace. “He did a really good job. All of the points of attack were pluses. He was 100% at the point of attack. He’s starting to understand the game, too.”

No. 3 Michigan football and No. 10 Penn State will clash this weekend at noon (ET) on FOX.
