Tomorrow is the day we’ve all been waiting for: Michigan football will take the field against Alabama in the College Football Playoff by way of the Rose Bowl. For the Wolverines, who are making their third straight appearance (yet are 0-2 in playoff games), a lot has happened over the past few months in regard to the Connor Stalions sign-stealing allegations, though Michigan still found a way to handle business and win all 13 of its games. Before the CFP, one ESPN anchor said that the Georgia Bulldogs should be “livid” that U-M was allowed in ahead of them.
ESPN anchor has interesting take on Michigan football CFP berth
Before playing Michigan State, Michigan football suspended ex-staffer Connor Stalions, who has since resigned. Since then, the Wolverines are (still) undefeated, downing teams like No. 10 Penn State, No. 2 Ohio State, and more en route to a Big Ten Championship victory and CFP berth against Alabama in the Rose Bowl. Michigan is also ranked No. 1 right now.
Yet, that was not enough for ESPN anchor Peter Burns, who recently stated Georgia should be upset that Michigan football was allowed in the playoff amid the sign-stealing scandal.
“Georgia should be livid,” he said on Twitter/X. “The fact that Michigan who was reprimanded by their own conference for ‘violating policies that compromised the integrity of competition’ is in the playoff & not them. If CFB Playoff has injury criteria, they should have cheating guidelines as well.”
Despite sign-stealing scandal, Michigan set to face Alabama in the Rose Bowl tomorrow
Regardless of what the ESPN host thinks should happen, and regardless of Georgia’s Orange Bowl win against Florida State (who had many opt-outs), Michigan football will be playing in the College Football Playoff tomorrow.
If the Wolverines can finally overcome their playoff woes, Michigan will punch its ticket to the national title game — something that is yet do be done in program history.
