Joe Milton is arguably the worst quarterback that the Wolverines have seen in decades, and during his four games as a starter in 2020, there is no doubt that he was the worst of the Jim Harbaugh era (since 2015). That said, this former Michigan football QB is now with the Tennessee Volunteers, and according to ESPN, no player in the game will have a bigger impact on this year’s College Football Playoff race than Milton.

Former Michigan football QB will decide the College Football Playoff race? ESPN thinks so

There has been a lot of familiar buzz in the air regarding former Michigan football QB Joe Milton, who is known best for his massive arm and incredible physical frame. That said, Milton has only earned a starting role once and led the Wolverines to the worst campaign that the team has ever seen (2-4). Since then, he has moved to SEC country, where he got the starting nod in last year’s Orange Bowl game and seemed to show progress.

Heading into the 2023 season, ESPN ranked the top 10 players that will impact the College Football Playoff race, with none other than former Michigan football QB Joe Milton coming in at No. 1.

Bill Connelly of ESPN states that “it couldn’t be anyone else” when talking about who the most important player is in regard to this year’s College Football Playoff race. He accurately states that Milton has the frame and talent to succeed, and as all college football fans know, a second chance is usually a player’s last chance.

With a lot on the line for Milton and the Tennessee program this year, he thinks that Milton may be ready to rise to the occasion.
