Some bad news just broke for Michigan football recruiting. Four-star linebacker and top Michigan football target Aaron Chiles just announced his commitment to the Florida Gators. Chiles had received three crystal balls to Michigan prior to his Florida commitment.

Four-star linebacker Aaron Chiles commits to Florida

Despite being heavily recruited by Michigan football, Chiles decided to join head coach Billy Napier and the Florida Gators. Chiles had originally earned momentum towards Michigan after receiving three crystal balls to be a Wolverine back in March. This week, however, three new crystal balls dropped which all pointed to Florida.

While Chiles was originally supposed to visit Ann Arbor on June 23rd, he decided to announce his commitment while on his official visit to Gainesville, FL. The announcement was posted to Twitter late Saturday night.

Chiles is a composite four-star recruit on 247 Sports and is currently the No. 1 recruit out of Maryland.

Michigan football recruiting class still solid despite losing top target

The silver lining for Michigan fans is that the 2024 recruiting class is still holding strong. The Wolverines still hold the No. 2 nationally ranked recruiting class for 2024.

While Chiles is a hard recruit to lose, Jim Harbaugh has already landed one blue-chip linebacker in Mason Curtis. With official visits continuing through the summer, more recruits could still commit to Michigan, bolstering the Wolverines’ recruiting class even more.
