The 2021 season was a special time in Ann Arbor — there were no talks of Jim Harbaugh going back to the NFL, no scandals or investigations, nothing but a damn good football team that won 12 games for the second time in program history. That said, the Maize and Blue got crushed by the Georgia Bulldogs in the CFP by season’s end, which was a disheartening way to cap off an impressive season from Harbaugh’s 7th team. This week, amid a Michigan football scandal into illegal sign-stealing, UGA head coach Kirby Smart absolutely cooked Michigan.

Michigan football scandal: Wolverines get roasted by Georiga Bulldogs coach

Of course, as one of the Wolverines’ most notable opponents of the past few years, Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart was asked about the Michigan football scandal regarding illegal sign-stealing methods this week. Smart, who has won back-to-back national titles and is regarded as one of the top coaches in college football, did not hold back when talking about the Wolverines.

“There is nothing that I remember about the Michigan game that makes me think that (Michigan was stealing signs),” he said, per Jordan Hill.

Frankly, Kirby Smart is correct here — his Georgia Bulldogs crushed Michigan football in the 2021 Orange Bowl game. That said, the Wolverines were simply worse that day — the things that had made Michigan great in 2021 (pass rush, offensive line play, etc.) were rendered useless by one of the best teams to ever hit the gridiron. All said and done, UGA bullied the Wolverines 34-11 before doing the same to Alabama in the national title game not long after.

As much as it may hurt to hear this for Wolverines fans, Smart’s response was still pretty funny.
