Michigan and Passes announced a partnership that could help the university bring in top recruits for years to come. In the immediate future it could even help the Wolverines land No. 1 recruit and five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood.

Passes is a platform that allows content creators to monetize their posts and helps them create their personal brand. Underwood has over 100,000 followers on Instagram, and social media is important to almost everyone these days. This partnership could help recruiting for almost every sport, but Underwood seems to be at the forefront of everyone’s mind.

Michigan and Passes Announce Partnership

On Tuesday’s edition of The Michigan Insider, Passes founder Lucy Guo said she’ll try her hand at bringing the Belleville (MI) star to Ann Arbor.

“It’s definitely something we care a lot about. Yes, we have been in discussions in contributing to an NIL package that will bring Bryce to Michigan,” Guo said. “… People want Bryce. Michigan is really his hometown. He has the opportunity to be a hometown hero. He has the opportunity to make more money. To me, it seems like a no-brainer, but I’m not Bryce. But, I will attempt to convince Bryce.”

Through Learfield, Passes and Michigan are now official partners. That means people will see Michigan brands and trademarks on Passes, and that “isn’t necessarily the case” with Texas, which has a similar deal with the company. Still, Quinn Ewers’ page offers a peek at what the profiles of Michigan athletes might look like.

Below is an excerpt from the Passes press release:

Passes, the premier direct-to-fan engagement and monetization platform, has joined forces with the University of Michigan to unlock athlete Name, Image, Likeness value across 29 varsity sports, recruit and retain top student athletes, and create an ecosystem for unprecedented fan access. This multi-year partnership through Learfield empowers Michigan student athletes to sell exclusive content and merchandise and empowers fans to play a role in the retention and recruitment of athletic and academic talent through a new NIL fund.
