The Ann Arbor police tweeted that, at approximately 8:00 PM on a stormy Wednesday night, officer Howard Cooper came upon a downed tree branch blocking the road. While working on moving the tree, a van pulled up and the driver got out to assist the officer clear the roadway. To officer Cooper’s surprise, the driver was none other than Michigan Football head coach Jim Harbaugh. So, with no other option, officer Cooper handed coach Harbaugh a pair of work gloves and the duo got down to business — after about 10 minutes, the road was cleared.
Jim Harbaugh proves to be a good Samaritan
A storm rolled through most of the lower peninsula starting on Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning. With it came high winds, snow, and ice. Many downed trees were reported across the state, including bouts of power outages all over Michigan and Ann Arbor. Coach Harbaugh being the first to roll up his sleeves and get down to work should come as no surprise to Wolverine fans — he has routinely made a habit of leading by example for his community and program. Whether it’s pushing a football sled in practice, squatting reps in the weight room, or donning a pair of receiver gloves to play catch, Jim Harbaugh has never been afraid to get his hands dirty.
Michigan Football began spring practice earlier this week looking to defend their Big Ten title and complete the programs first three-peat since 1990-1992. New stars are already beginning to emerge, and some young guys are turning heads. The annual spring game is scheduled to be played on April 1st, 2023.
