Jessica Fields commits to Michigan women's basketball

Highly recruited forward Jessica Fields – the sister of former Ohio State QB Justin Fields – has committed to Michigan women’s basketball.

Fields is a huge get for former Big Ten Coach of the Year Kim Barnes Arico’s relentlessly competitive program.

Before we get to the basketball, though … You read that right: Michigan officially made The Fields a divided family.

Given the history between Justin & the Wolverines, there’s an obvious angle to run away with here.

The Michigan football program just swiped an assistant coach and key recruiting staffer from Columbus earlier this offseason.

Meanwhile, Michigan basketball swayed the second-best player from the Buckeyes lineup in the transfer portal.

As the old saying goes: If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.

What to Know About Jessica Fields

The 6-foot-2 rising senior plays both forward positions at Mount Paran Christian in Kennesaw, Ga.

Fields received a 91 rating from 247Sports, which equates to four-star status.

She’s a Top 150 player nationally according to ProspectNation’s rankings, one of the most trusted in the sport.

On top of that, this recruiting service said Fields is one of the top players in the country, with an “unfathomable” resume.👇

She had offers from several schools, but ultimately chose the Wolverines over Georgetown & Northwestern. As you can assume from her final schools, academics were a high priority.

Entering her senior season, she’s already surpassed over 1,000 career points and two state championships.

Why Fields Committed to Michigan

Fields had strict criteria when deciding her schools: Academics, player development, feeling wanted by the coaching staff and team culture.

“At the end of the day, I just try to keep in mind that I’m going to be with these girls every day for the next four years, so I definitely want to be somewhere I feel comfortable and like they’re my second family,” Fields said in an interview with On3.

With Fields now in the fold, she joins SG McKenzie Mathurin as the second commitment in the 2025 Michigan women’s basketball recruiting class.
