One of the less-talked-about position groups for the Wolverines this year is at linebacker — this is likely because the Maize and Blue are deep and talented throughout the entire room right now. That said, all fans should be keeping an eye on rising Michigan football star linebacker Jaydon Hood, who has been standing out quite a bit and garnering all kinds of praise ahead of the coming season.

Rising Michigan football star linebacker garners more praise

This weekend, Michigan football will be rotating a combination of Ernest Hausmann (sophomore), Junior Colson (junior), Mike Barrett (graduate), and others throughout the linebacker corps against East Carolina. While Jaydon Hood will be a backup in the rotation this year, this rising Michigan football star linebacker is a player to watch for Wolverines fans this weekend and throughout the coming season.

“Sometimes, when guys don’t play early, they kind of get in this abyss, right?” linebackers coach Chris Partridge said of Jaydon Hood. “Especially when guys that are in front of them are coming back. And Mike Barrett, as you said, he’s been here forever. So it’s like Jaydon gets here, and it’s like, ‘Oh, Mike’s in front of me. Oh, Mike’s in front of me, again. Oh, Mike’s in front of me again.’ So they kind of get in this little, like, lost area.

“I think that’s where Jaydon was, you know? And maybe the change revived him? Jaydon works really hard, he wants to be good. He wants to contribute. He just wants to be valued on the team, whether it’s special teams, or whatever it is, and he’s worked for it. And he’s done a really good job. And he’s improved.

Jaydon Hood continues to improve

Chris Partridge continued about Jaydon Hood:

“Since the day I started working with him till now, he’s just improved and improved and improved. And he keeps working and keeps improving. So, really excited about him. And he’s still he knows he’s still got room to grow. But, I mean, he had a heck of a camp, he’s put together a heck of a camp. And I think he’s seen light now. I mean, this is the best way to say, to describe it.”

Partridge, as well as other coaches and players, has been high on Jaydon Hood since the start of fall camp this year. Colson, Hausmann, and Barrett are the team’s top linebackers, but Hood should see some solid reps for Michigan football this year.
