ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Today, the University of Michigan announced some incredible new changes to Michigan Stadium, also known as ‘The Big House,’ the home of Michigan football. Over the offseason, new LED lighting was installed, something that Wolverines fans will get their first look at this fall, and should take Michigan’s home environment to the next level throughout the 2023 season.

Awesome changes being made to Michigan football stadium this fall

Some massive changes are coming to Michigan Stadium this year, with new lighting and more being emphasized to kick things up a notch in regards to the fan experience. Here is a video of what fans can expect to see:

“Replacing the original lighting system, which had been in place for well over a decade, with the latest LED technology is an important upgrade to Michigan Stadium,” said Michigan Associate Athletic Director for Facility Operations Paul Dunlop, per today’s press release. “The new lighting system will use less energy and provide outstanding light coverage for fans in the stadium and those watching at home on TV.”

In past years, Michigan football stadium was a bit behind when it came to infrastructure — however, this is no longer the case. The Wolverines’ iconic stadium, ‘The Big House,’ has a brand new look and vibe this year.

“Adding the new Musco lighting system provides us with an additional tool to enhance the gameday atmosphere at Michigan Stadium,” said Director of Game Presentation & Fan Experience Jake Stocker. “The ability to use special effects lighting in conjunction with video board content, key game moments, and special performances will create a unique and memorable experience for Michigan football fans of all ages.”

Michigan football has a team ready to contend for a national title during the 2023 season, and now, a newly upgraded stadium to match, likely making 2023 a year to remember for Wolverines fans.
