Last weekend, fans got a first look at the impressive 2024 Michigan football recruiting class, with names like Jadyn Davis, Jordan Marshall, and others bursting onto the scene for their senior seasons. Jim Harbaugh has assembled an impressive 2024 high school class thus far, but after seeing these top-ranked prospects in action, it’s clear that the future of football in Ann Arbor is in good hands.

The 2024 Michigan football recruiting class is led by an elite quarterback

First off, even though Jadyn Davis has dropped down to four-star status, it has become clear that he has the potential to develop into an elite quarterback during his time at the Universty of Michigan. On Friday, Davis threw for over 450 yards and a whopping five touchdowns to match — if that was not impressive enough, he pitched a clean game as well, throwing zero interceptions.

Davis is the crown jewel of Head Coach Jim Harbaugh’s 2024 recruiting class and is expected to be JJ McCarthy’s successor when he leaves, either via the 2024 or 2025 NFL Draft. With Davis on pace for an insane senior high school football season, keep an eye on this Michigan football commit, as he may manage to regain his five-star status ahead of National Singing Day next year.

Right now, the composite rankings list Jadyn Davis as a four-star quarterback, pinning him as the No. 66 player in the nation and the No. 7 quarterback in his class. It will not be easy to finish as a five-star, but it is definitely possible.

Running backs standing out as well

Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan football program have found a method to winning the Big Ten Championship, and it heavily revolves around elite running back play. In 2021, the Wolverines had Hassan Haskins and Blake Corum leading the way; in 2022, Corum and Donovan Edwards took control of the offense and will look to do the same this fall.

On Friday, Michigan football running back commits Jordan Marshall and Micah Kaapana both had impressive games. Marshall, the No. 1 commit in the class, went for 165 yards and a few touchdowns, while Kaapana (a three-star) racked up over 200 yards and a few touchdowns of his own.

Needless to say, these two are causing a ton of buzz about what the future of Jim Harbaugh’s run-first offense may hold for the Maize and Blue.

Where does the 2024 recruiting class stand right now?

According to the 247 Sports composite rankings, the 2024 Michigan football recruiting class ranks 8th nationally, which is notably lower than where it was during the spring, but is still a very good class. A few months ago, the Wolverines were at No. 1 in the composite rankings, but few felt that the top spot was where Jim Harbaugh and his Wolverines would finish.

Over the past few weeks, Michigan football has missed a few top targets, even losing a four-star commit to Miami; however, the class remains in good shape heading into the 2023 season. With Jadyn Davis, Jordan Marshall, and others leading the way (and impressing nationally), it is becoming clear that the future of the program is in great shape right now.
