The 2024 Michigan football recruiting class is nearing National Singing Day, at which point the 2025 class will come to the forefront of the Wolverines’ minds. For Jim Harbaugh and his coaching staff, Elijah Dotson has become a major in-state target; in fact, right now, all signs point to him committing and signing with the Maize and Blue. This week, the Detroit native earned a fourth-star, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

The top Michigan football recruiting target nationally right now is five-star quarterback Byrce Underwood. While the Wolverines may still be in the mix, it is believed that LSU is the favorite for his commitment, though Michigan is also interested in a fellow Belleville target in the 2025 class: Elijah Dotson.

Dotson is listed as an athlete right now, and heading into the offseason, the Michigan football recruiting target just earned his fourth star in the On3 Industry Recruiting Rankings. Per these new rankings, Elijah Dotson is now the No. 17 athlete nationally and the No. 6 player in the state of Michigan.

Things continue to look very Maize and Blue in his recruitment right now — 100% of insider predictions (5/5) for Dotson favor Michigan football, and the RPM gives him a 98.1% chance of choosing the Wolverines by the end of his recruitment. Other contenders appear to include Penn State, Tennessee, Michigan State, Auburn, and more, though Jim Harbaugh’s staff has done a great job locking down plenty of interest.

Of course, Dotson is yet to commit, and there is plenty of time until the 2025 recruiting class officially signs, though Michigan football remains the safe bet for this newly appointed four-star athlete.
