As top recruiting targets start to emerge for Michigan football in the 2025 recruiting class, it’s clear that Taz Williams is one of those guys for the Wolverines.

It was reported earlier this week by Chad Simmons of On3.com that Michigan football is among the leaders for the dynamic wideout from the state of Texas.

Simmons called his recruitment, a “classic Michigan-Ohio State battle.” However, Alabama, Texas A&M, and USC are also in the mix for the 5-foot-11, 181-pound wideout ranked No. 266 overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Williams probably should be ranked higher than he is. Last season, he put together a breakout campaign and had more than 1,200 receiving yards as a junior.

Another good sign for a major Michigan football recruiting target

It was interesting to hear Simmons call Michigan football the favorite for Williams, especially since he didn’t have an official visit scheduled. That has now changed. Williams posted on X that he’ll be taking a fifth official visit, to Ann Arbor on June 21st. His trip to Michigan will follow trips to Alabama and A&M.

As a recruit from the Lone Star State, it would seem like Texas A&M would have the advantage, but Simmons reported that because Williams is from Pennsylvania, distance isn’t a big factor.

The Aggies always have NIL money and Kalen DeBoer is proving to be a recruiting force at Alabama, just like Lincoln Riley has been at USC and Oklahoma. That makes handicapping this recruitment difficult, but Simmons “likes Michigan” and now that the Wolverines are on the schedule for an official visit, you have to like where they stand.
