This year’s Michigan football quarterback room has some intense battles, though, for the first time in a few seasons, the QB1 job is on lock. Second-year starter JJ McCarthy will lead the Wolverines once again this year, but that has not stopped quarterbacks like Jack Tuttle, Davis Warren, and sophomore Jayden Denegal from causing some buzz within the program. Heading into the 2023 season, Denegal has changed his number and is following in the footsteps of Michigan head coach (and former star QB) Jim Harbaugh.

Jayden Denegal has yet to be talked about much so far, but he could be worth noting for Michigan football fans heading into the 2023 college football season. Denegal, formerly a three-star composite quarterback commit from the Wolverines’ 2022 recruiting cycle, has an insane frame, standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing in at 235 pounds as a sophomore on the 2023 Michigan football roster.

This year’s QB room is loaded, so there is a decent chance that Denegal doesn’t make it higher than QB4 on the depth chart this year. That said, you never know, and he could outperform the competition throughout the remainder of fall camp, earning a larger role for the Wolverines during the coming season.

Regardless, this massive sophomore Michigan football quarterback recently had a number change, putting himself in the jersey number of former Michigan QB and current head coach Jim Harbaugh.

A season ago, Jayden Denegal wore No. 14 as a true freshman; however, heading into his second season of college ball, this massive Michigan football quarterback is donning No. 4, just as Jim Harbaugh did during his time in the Maize and Blue, finishing as a Heisman finalist and Big Ten Champion before entering the NFL’s ranks.
