Michigan football has the best running back duo in the nation: Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards.

With the 2023 college football season fast approaching, the Wolverines’ offense is looking to take the next step this fall in hopes of claiming another conference title and more. Alongside an elite offensive line and a second-year starting quarterback, Michigan boasts an impeccable running back room. Recently, both of the Wolverines’ top backs were ranked among the top 10 running backs in the nation by Pro Football Focus.

Blake Corum is the best running back in college football — plain and simple. In fact, according to Pro Football Focus, he is the No. 1 returning running back in the nation, which is a prestigious title to say the least.

Last season, Corum was one of the most prolific offensive football players in the entire nation. If it weren’t for a Week 11 injury against the Illinois Fighting Illini — a game in which Corum racked up 140 yards in less than a half against a top 5 defense — he would have finished as a Heisman Trophy candidate. Instead, he ended the year 7th in voting after missing the Wolverines’ three most important games (Ohio State, Big Ten title, and the Fiesta Bowl).

Heading into the 2023 season with his knee injury healed and national title-caliber expectations, Blake Corum is arguably the most dangerous player in the game.

In addition to Blake Corum, Michigan football has another elite running back: Donovan Edwards. Edwards is an incredible dual-threat offensive weapon and is poised to take on a multi-purpose role for the Wolverines this year — he is ranked as the No. 9 returning running back on PFF’s list.

The Michigan football rushing attack is as deep and dangerous as it has ever been. With a talented RB room and an elite offensive line, the Wolverines may not always need Edwards as a back. In fact, as seen throughout the 2022 season, his role may expand beyond the backfield now that his hand is no longer broken.

Keep an eye on these two elite Michigan football running backs because Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards are poised to take the college football world by storm.
