ANN ARBOR — After winning the National Championship on Monday, Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore and his Wolverines have returned home and were met on Tuesday evening by a massive crowd of U-M fans at Schembechler Hall. With Nick Saban stepping down, Moore — who led Michigan to four wins with Jim Harbaugh suspended last season — has been listed among the top 15 most likely replacements for the Alabama Crimson Tide in the initial betting odds.

Alabama football is replacing a legend, as Nick Saban — one of the greatest of all time — is reportedly stepping down as the Tide’s head coach. Do you think Michigan football winning a National Championship is exciting? Now just add another six titles — that’s how many Saban has.

Sherrone Moore, Michigan’s offensive coordinator, has been nothing short of impressive this year — he has served as the Wolverines’ OC, the offensive line coach, and even UM’s interim head coach when Jim Harbaugh was suspended earlier this year; in fact, Moore has wins over No. 10 Penn State, No. 2 Ohio State, and more this past season.

Per the initial betting odds, the Michigan football coach has the 15th-best odds of being Alabama’s next head coach. He is listed next to names like Ryan Day (Ohio State), James Franklin (Penn State), and others; however, seeing as Jim Harbaugh has an NFL decision to make, it is far more likely that Moore will be the head coach of the Wolverines before eying other coaching jobs.
