During the Wolverines’ 49-0 triumph over the Michigan State Spartans, Michigan football star edge rusher Braiden McGregor took a dirty late hit from MSU offensive lineman Spencer Brown. During Michigan’s interception return, Brown threw McGregor to the ground and proceeded to use his helmet as a weapon, targeting the back of McGregor’s head in a dangerous, reckless, and dirty penalty — it was deemed flagrant, and Brown was ejected, forcing him to watch the remainder of his team’s embarrassing loss from the locker room.

Today, we heard more from Braiden McGregor on what happened and got his reaction to the cheap shot from the Spartan offensive lineman.

Michigan State got embarrassed by Michigan football, and despite the game being nowhere near over, the Spartans started taking some cheap shots on a few Wolverines. One such instance was Spencer Brown seemingly looking to injure Braiden McGregor on an interception return; however, McGregor didn’t seem to care all that much when asked about it this afternoon.

“Honestly, I didn’t even really know what happened,” Michigan football star Braiden McGregor told us this afternoon. “I just went to make a block, ended up on the ground, and then I just thought someone fell on me. So I didn’t really think anything of it. The refs took care of it really quick. You know, it’s a rivalry game, so you can expect (some) dirty plays.”

Thankfully, Braiden McGregor is doing just fine, though if there were any lingering injury issues with him and the rest of the Michigan football team, this is the week that those should be taken care of. Before facing Purdue in Week 10, the Maize and Blue get a well-earned bye week, sitting at No. 2 nationally with a perfect 8-0 (5-0 Big Ten) record on the season thus far.
