Since the start of the 2023 season, ex-Central Florida standout Cam Goode — a transfer for the Maize and Blue — has stood out on Jesse Minter’s elite Michigan football defense. Heading into Week 7, Goode is feeling great about his performance and this year’s team; additionally, yesterday, he highlighted two rising stars for fans to keep an eye on: Reece Atteberry and Trey Pierce.

Trey Pierce, a freshman for the Wolverines, and Reece Atteberry, a converted offensive lineman, are both rising stars who have been turning a lot of heads so far this fall. Both are new to the Wolverines’ defensive line room, yet according to Cam Goode — an ex-Central Knight — they are already showing signs of greatness in the Maize and Blue.

Trey Pierce

The first Michigan football breakout that Goode shouted out on Monday was Trey Pierce.

“Trey Pierce — he’s a young guy that’s going to be great and reminds me a lot of myself, real twitchy,” Cam Goode said. “He’s on the smaller side. He possesses a lot of power and a lot of knowledge at a young age. For somebody to be on the bus, going to those games, and playing in those games. I’m very happy for him because it’s no deed getting on the bus or even being a part of the travel squad.”

Next, Goode gave some love to Reece Atteberry, who was only moved to the defensive line a few weeks before the 2023 season started.

“Reece Atteberry — he’s somebody who’s transitioned from the OL to the DL,” Cam Goode said. “And from the first day he got there, he’s showing that he’s gonna be a problem. He got on that bus being an offensive guard during camp and then transitioning. I’m so proud of Reece and his work ethic. He just puts his head down, and he goes.”

Keep an eye on rising stars for Michigan football

This weekend and in the weeks to come, keep an eye out for these two Michigan football defenders when the Wolverines hit the field. Michigan has six more regular season games remaining, starting with this weekend’s bout against the Indiana Hoosiers at the Big House — the Wolverines’ final home game until Purdue comes to town in November.
