Michigan football hosted Gatlin Bair over the weekend for an official visit during the final wave of visitors for the Wolverines this June. Bair is a highly coveted four-star recruit for the Maize and Blue, and rightfully so. Despite not being able to sign until the 2026 cycle, Bair is one of the fastest recruits ever recorded on paper and a top-priority target for the Wolverines. Today, the Wolverines received a significant insider prediction (ON3) that they will secure Bair’s commitment, undoubtedly a massive development for Michigan’s recruiting efforts.

Michigan football closing in on landing Gatlin Bair

Gatlin Bair finds himself in an intriguing situation. Technically, he falls under the 2024 recruiting class. However, due to his plans of embarking on a two-year mission after completing high school, he won’t officially sign with his future team until 2026. Nevertheless, his exceptional talents and physical attributes make him an ideal fit for Michigan’s future offense, rendering him immensely valuable for the Maize and Blue in this recruiting cycle.

Furthermore, beyond his prowess as a high school football star and one of the top-ranked recruits in his class, Gatlin Bair also shines as a prominent track star, having recently shattered an Idaho state record.

According to the composite rankings, Bair stands as the 44th top recruit in the nation, the 10th-ranked wide receiver in his recruiting class, and the premier recruit in Idaho. His list of finalists comprises five teams: Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, TCU, and Boise State. Among these options, it appeared that Nebraska was in the best shape for his commitment — that was until Michigan football earned a new ON3 insider prediction in favor of landing Gatlin Bair.

This is a huge development for the Maize and Blue recruiting efforts with a top-ranked 2024 recruit — the Wolverines are closing in on a major commitment, and insiders are taking note. Michigan’s odds on the RPM to land Bair have now shot up to nearly 72%, putting Jim Harbaugh comfortably in the driver’s seat here.
