This fall, the Wolverines are going to need some new faces to step up; from the 2023 signing class to the transfer portal class, it appears that Jim Harbaugh’s squad has all the potential and talent in the world right now. Ahead of his first year in Ann Arbor, Michigan football freshman breakout candidate Cameron Brandt, a former three-star defensive lineman, has put on a whopping 17 pounds, further establishing himself as a new face to watch for Wolverines fans.
Michigan football freshman breakout candidate is looking massive during fall camp
Cameron Brandt was not the highest-rated player in the 2023 signing class — he was a three-star defensive lineman, ranking as the 46th defensive lineman in the cycle and the 34th player in the state of California. That said, his commitment to Michigan football is quite valuable for Jim Harbaugh and the coaching staff, with defensive line depth at a premium this fall.
When Brandt initially committed to Michigan football, he measured at 6-foot-4, 260 pounds — according to the Wolverines’ updated roster, the former three-star prospect is up nearly 20 pounds heading into his first season in the Maize and Blue, currently measuring at 6-foot-4, 277 pounds.
Brandt, who was initially committed to Stanford but flipped at the last second, is one of the most underrated players in the Wolverines’ 2023 freshman class — he may not have ranked high on the scouts’ radars, but he is expected to be an impact player for Michigan football and could see some solid action early on. With his exponential growth over the offseason, it appears that Brandt is poised to be a regular freshman contributor for the Wolverines this fall as they chase a Big Ten title and more for the third year in a row.
