Heading into the 2023 season, the wide receiver corps was a pretty sizable question mark for the Wolverines’ offense. A few games into the year, it has become clear that the Maize and Blue are in good hands with Roman Wilson, Cornelius Johnson, and others; in fact, even Michigan football freshman Fredrick Moore has been stepping up in a big way thus far. On Tuesday, we got the latest on the rising star from team captain Mike Sainristil.
Michigan football freshman wide receiver earns praise from captain Mike Sainristil
When Mike Sainristil began his Michigan football career, he was originally a wide receiver — a pretty good one at that. Still, last fall, Sainristil made the switch from offense to defense and quickly became one of the top cornerbacks in the Big Ten. Now, the converted defender is a team captain (for the second season in a row) and one of the most respected players in the Wolverines’ locker room.
Yesterday, the 5th-year star gave us the latest buzz surrounding Michigan football freshman wide receiver Fredrick Moore, who has been getting a lot of in-game reps for a new player.
“(Fredrick Moore has) just going out there and doing the thing that he’s been blessed to do,” Mike Sainristil said yesterday evening. “Fred is a really good receiver. He came in, and he got to work right away, straight in his playbook. And the sooner you learn it, the sooner you’re able to go out there and impact. The game comes a lot slower to you when you do know what you’re doing. And Fred is the guy that knows what he’s doing when he’s out there. So it allows him to go out there and be comfortable and play his best game.”
Fredrick Moore and Co. return this weekend against Bowling Green
So far this year, the Michigan football freshman wide receiver has caught two passes for 18 yards. This weekend, Mike Sainristil and Fredrick Moore will take the field once again when Bowling Green comes to town for a Week 3 night game at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. This Saturday will be Michigan’s final non-conference game of the 2023 season, meaning suspended head coach Jim Harbaugh will be making his return next week.
